Hezri's Birthday Lunch at Rama V Fine Thai Cuisine, Jalan U-Thant

Salam all,

Nak celebrate Hezri's birthday punyalah susah sebab we are so packed with activities every weekend. Especially with kenduri. Dalam bulan Jun, tiap-tiap hujung minggu ada kenduri sampai I rasa penat. Just nak stay home and sleep. Sebenarnya pada hari ni juga kami ada kenduri. so sad. 10.30 pagi pergi kenduri, dalam pukul 1 pm, terus datang ke Rama V, jalan U-Thant.

Why I choose Rama V for birthday celebration? sebab I baca nice review about this place and kami tak pernah makan Thai fine dining lagi. Kalau birthday je, mesti steak. So lets do something different this time.

Tak susah nak cari restaurant ni, masuk Jalan U Thant and restaurant cum bungalow ni ada di tepi jalan sahaja.

Just got back from kenduri and we are still in baju kurung lagi and yes, thats my MIL

Restaurant ni sangat nice, cozy and tenang sebab tak ramai orang.

Appetizers


YAM PLA DUK FU
Spicy crispy catfish salad with sliced mango sauce

OMG this is sedap gila! sauce tu ada masam manis pedas, bila makan everything blends so well! with onions, mint leaves and chillies. Catfish crackers pun sedap. This is my first time having catfish as crackers.


CHOR LADDA
Flower shaped dumpling stuffed with minced chicken & peanuts

These are too pretty to eat. I love the sweet filling, macam kuah rojak pun ada. tapi bila makan more than two, rasa macam muak. maybe sebab kulit dumpling tu a bit thick.



GAENG PED POLL LINCHEE
Roasted Duck Red Curry With Lychee

To be honest, this dish abit salty and kuah dia pekat sangat. Rasa muak pun ada. But I suka combination of the lychee with curry, weird but it works.


Stir fried soft shell crab with aromatic Thai  Curry Powder

Seriously this is not what I had in mind, I ingatkan dia goreng kering, rupanya with curry sauce juga. Bad decision. Another muak dish! Orang Thai memang tak kedekut use coconut milk in their food.
Tapi ada daun limau purut to save the dish, bagi bau yang sangat menarik


White Snapper Steamed with chillies and lime

This is my favourite dish, nombor dua lepas catfish salad. Cuma dalam steamed fish ni pun diorang letak santan juga. wah wah, banyak benor kelapa kat kedai ni. But if they add more chillies, lagi extra kick!
Nothing can go wrong with this meal kan?
Fish, lime and chillies memang perfect combination dah pun


Desserts :

Cendol, Taro & Sticky Rice in Coconut Milk

Just like normal cendol, tapi I tak really like it. Lack of X factor.

I  can easily finish two bowls of these. Sedap gila!

 Hezri tak suka dessert ni. I memang peminat pumpkin, any kind of cooking, soup, pengat, puding yang ada labu, Im okay with it :) but yeah, cant deny the egg smell abit strong. Turn off a little bit.


Total cost of our lunch :

RM 273.75 include tax and 1.5ltre Evian mineral water
Not cheap.

Lets go to steakhouse on my birthday.
